Asus has started selling its ROG Strix XG27AQWMG in the US through Amazon. Slightly more expensive than the competition, it's the only 280 Hz Tandem OLED monitor currently available with a glossy finish.

The Asus ROG Swift OLED XG27AQWMG is now available to order in the US. Featuring an LG Display Primary RGB Tandem OLED panel, the new 280 Hz QHD monitor is priced at $649, putting it between the Gigabyte MO27Q28G (curr: $599.99 at Newegg) and the LG UltraGear 27GX700A-B (curr: $799.99 at LG). Notably, the Asus is the only one of the three to offer a glossy finish.

Specifically, the ROG Swift OLED XG27AQWMG uses a TrueBlack Glossy coating, which Asus claims delivers sharper images and deeper blacks even in well-lit rooms. Colors also tend to pop more on glossy displays compared to matte panels. On top of that, Asus says the TrueBlack Glossy panel reduces reflections by up to 38% compared to previous-gen WOLED displays. That said, Gigabyte also announced the MO27Q28GR with a similar 280 Hz Tandem WOLED panel and a RealBlack Glossy coating, but it is not yet available.

Sharper, brighter gaming with better text clarity

The ROG Swift OLED XG27AQWMG brings a few notable upgrades over 3rd-gen WOLED monitors. It delivers up to 335 nits of full-panel brightness and peaks at 1,500 nits in HDR at 1.5% APL. Color reproduction has also been slightly improved, going from 99% DCI-P3 to 99.5%, while the new four-stack panel structure is said to improve text clarity and extend OLED lifespan by up to 60%. The monitor also includes several OLED care features to help reduce burn-in, including a presence sensor that turns the display black when the user steps away.

For gaming, the XG27AQWMG pairs a 280 Hz refresh rate with a 0.03 ms response time, along with G-Sync and FreeSync Premium Pro support for tear-free gameplay. Connectivity includes one DisplayPort 1.4 input, two HDMI 2.1 ports, and two USB-A ports. Unlike the MO27Q28G, there is no USB-C port here. The ASUS ROG Swift OLED XG27AQWMG is now available to buy in the US via Amazon. It is also listed on the Asus website but is currently marked out of stock. Alternatives include the cheaper Gigabyte MO27Q28G and LG’s UltraGear OLED 27GX700A-B.
