Asus has refreshed the ROG Flow X16 (GV601) with Intel Raptor Lake-H CPUs up to the Core i9-13900H and up to a 135 W Nvidia GeForce RTX 4070 Laptop GPU. The ROG Flow X16 now features an improved QHD+ mini-LED display option with a 240 Hz refresh rate and Gorilla Glass DXC coating for added durability and reduced surface reflections for better visibility in bright environments.

The 2022 Asus ROG Flow X16 came across as a capable Ryzen 9 6900HS-powered convertible with an excellent mini-LED display. Now, at CES 2023, Asus is introducig a refreshed version of the Flow X16 (GV601) now with an even better display, Intel Raptor Lake processors, and Nvidia RTX 40 series mobile GPUs.

The new Asus ROG Flow X16 sports a simiar design as the previous generation. And like last year, Asus is offering the ROG Flow X16 with two display options:

  • 16-inch ROG Nebula HDR QHD+ (2560 x 1600) 240 Hz mini-LED G-Sync panel
  • 16-inch ROG Nebula HDR QHD+ (2560 x 1600) 240 Hz IPS-level G-Sync panel

Asus said that the mini-LED panel can attain a peak brightness of 1,100 nits. Both display options are Dolby Vision HDR-capable, offer fast 3 ms response times, cover 100% of the DCI-P3 color gamut, and are PANTONE-validated, according to Asus.

There is Gorilla Glass DXC coating for them as well, which is a first for 2023 ROG Flow X13 and Flow X16. Asus said that the Gorilla Glass DXC coating makes the screen 40% harder and reduces reflections, which was one of the pain points in the previous iteration.

This time, Asus has opted to go the Intel Raptor Lake-H route for the Flow X16 while the Flow X13 gets AMD Zen 4 brains. The Flow X16 comes with CPU options up to the Core i9-13900H and graphics options up to the Nvidia GeForce RTX 4070 Laptop GPU with a 130 W TGP.

In addition to the GPU supporting Advanced Optimus, users also get to use a dedicated MUX Switch. Users can also leverage the improved ROG XG Mobile interface (see below for specifications) for connecting eGPUs, which can accommodate up to the Nvidia GeForce RTX 4090 Laptop GPU with a 175 W TGP.

Memory can now be expanded to up to 64 GB of DDR5-4800 RAM along with PCIe Gen 4 storage options up to 2 TB.

The keyboard and touchpad remain relatively unchanged, with Asus once again offering just a single-zone RGB lighting for the 6-row chiclet keyboard.

Networking needs are handled by a Wi-Fi 6E WLAN card with Bluetooth 5.2. Being an Intel platform, the port selection now includes a Thunderbolt 4 port in addition to a USB 3.2 Gen2 Type-C (DP+PD), two USB 3.2 Gen2 Type-A ports, HDMI 2.1-out, a ROG XG Mobile interface for eGPUs, and a combo audio jack.

A 4-speaker Dolby Atmos speaker system, 3D array microphones, and a 90 WHr battery round-up the specifications.

Asus is yet to reveal the pricing and availability informtaion for the ROG Flow X16.
