CES 2023 | Intel Core i3-N305, Core i3-N300, Intel Processor N200 and Intel Processor N100 laptop CPUs unveiled for low-power machines
While Intel's shiny new Raptor Lake laptop processors are the highlight of CES 2023, the company has also unveiled some new entry-level processors, namely the Intel Core i3-N305, Core i3-N300, Intel Processor N200 and Intel Processor N100. All four SKUs are built on the Intel 7 process and earmarked for low-power laptops that need to execute basic tasks such as web browsing and the occasional Zoom call. Intel says one can see over 50 laptops using the new processors from Acer, Dell, HP, Lenovo and ASUS.
Intel claims the Intel Processors (formerly known as Celeron) offer up to 28% faster CPU and 64% GPU performance compared to its predecessor. The Core i3 SKUs are up the former to 42%, but the latter is scaled down to 56%. Laptops using the new N series processors can supposedly provide up to 10 hours of video playback on a single charge. AV1 decode is also supported, along with Wi-Fi 6E and Bluetooth 5.2.
The Intel Core i3-N305 is the most powerful CPU of the lot, with eight Gracemont efficiency cores. It can boost up to 3.8 GHz on a single core and draw 15 Watts of power in the process. The iGPU has 32 EUs and can operate at clock speeds up to 1.8 GHz. DDR4 3,200, DDR4 4,800 and LPDDR5 4,800 memory configurations are supported, but the processor has only one memory channel. Specs-wise, the Intel Core i3-N300 is identical to the Core i3-N305, but its maximum power draw is limited to 7 Watts.
The Intel Intel Processor N200 processor features four cores and four threads with a maximum boost clock of 3.7 GHz. It uses the same 32 EU iGPU mentioned above but scales its maximum frequency down to 750 MHz. Its younger sibling, the Intel Processor N100, scales the boost frequency down to 3.4 GHz and the number of EUs in the iGPU to 24. Both SKUs support DDR4 and LPDDR5 memory and have 6 MB of L3 cache.
