Analogue 3D gets software update that adds support for Nintendo 64 wireless controller

When the Analogue 3D was launched, Analogue also announced a wireless controller made by 8BitDo for the console. That controller is the 8BitDo 64 Bluetooth which is available in a variety of colors. However, it is not the only controller that is compatible with the Analogue 3D, as the console also has four ports for the original N64 wired controller. Now, a new software update has added support for another controller.
The new update arrives as 3DOS version 1.2.0, and while it brings several bug fixes, there are also more than a handful of new features. Among the latter is the added support for the Nintendo 64 wireless controller made for Nintendo Switch Online. The controller is originally designed to work with the Nintendo Switch and Nintendo Switch 2, but can now be used with the Analogue 3D.
The Switch Online Nintendo 64 controller is priced at $54.99 and is available to buy directly from Nintendo. However, buyers are required to have a paid Nintendo Switch Online membership to purchase the controller. While it is more expensive than the 8BitDo 64 Bluetooth controller (available for $39.99 on Amazon), the fact that it is a full-size replica of the original N64 controller is a plus.
In addition to adding support for a new controller, some of the other important fixes and features the update brings are listed below:
- Fixed compatibility issue with some 4K displays and switches
- Fixed issue with compatibility OS graphics
- Fixed compatibility issue with HDMI CES/eARC
- Fixed issue with audio clipping/saturation
- Added playtime tracking for games in the library
- Library now shows when each game was added
- Library info now shows Expansion Pak and Controller Pak support
- Automatic reminder when 8BitDo 64 controller is out of date or not in D-mode.
