8BitDo begins selling its transparent purple leverless controller
8BitDo refreshed its Arcade Controller in December by launching a special edition called the Transparent Purple Signature Edition. More than a month after its announcement, the controller is now available to buy.
The 8BitDo Arcade Controller Transparent Purple Edition is available to buy directly from the 8BitDo eShop for $94.99. It is also available to purchase on Amazon for $95.10. Both prices are higher than the standard N Edition which is currently $79.95 on Amazon.
The Transparent Purple Edition was created in collaboration with Vxbao and Zhen, two pro fighting game players. Featuring a purple translucent shell and buttons, the controller also has a black fingerprint-proof tempered glass faceplate just like the N Edition and the Xbox Edition. In the bottom right corner of the controller are the signatures of the two pro gamers.
The spec sheet says the controller has a hot-swappable PCB that features 16 Kailh Purple Glede linear low-profile mechanical switches. It also features four programmable buttons, which can be replaced with lock caps (included) if you don't need them. These lock caps help players prevent accidental presses.
The 8BitDo Arcade Controller Signature Edition is compatible with Windows and Nintendo Switch/Switch 2/Switch Lite. Users will be able to switch between Switch mode (S-Input) and PC (X-Input) modes using the knob at the top left corner. The controller connects via Bluetooth (Switch only), 2.4GHz (Windows only), and wired USB (Windows and Switch). It also has a 1,000mAh battery capacity with up to 20 hours of gameplay.
Just like the N Edition, the 8BitDo Arcade Controller Signature Edition is compatible with the 8BitDo Ultimate Software V2, which can be used to customize and map controls to your preference and also update the firmware.
