The end of 2025 is fast approaching. Nonetheless, 8BitDo is not finished with new product releases just yet. To recap, the company released Funtastic Limited Edition versions of the 8BitDo 64 last week. Now, it has quietly opened pre-orders for the mystery Transparent Arcade Controller that emerged on Amazon a few days ago.
As expected, the new release is a visual update of the original Arcade Controller that landed in the spring. Refreshed for Xbox Series consoles in July (curr. $79.99 on Amazon), the Arcade Controller features 16 Kailh linear low-profile mechanical switches and a hot-swappable PCB, regardless of which version you opt for. Also, all variants feature programmable buttons, with P1, P2, P3 and P4 buttons in the case of the Transparent Purple Signature Edition.
Moreover, 8BitDo has opted for Purple Glede switches, which it complements with translucent purple buttons and a translucent purple shell. However, the Transparent Purple Signature Edition retains a black tempered glass faceplate and a black transparent 2.4 GHz dongle. On top of that, the new Arcade Controller remains compatible with the Nintendo Switch via Bluetooth and a wired connection.
Currently, the Transparent Purple Signature Edition retails for $94.99, a $5 surcharge over the initial Arcade Controller's MSRP. Please note that both the N Edition and Xbox Editions are available at significantly less than MSRP. The Transparent Purple Signature Edition should begin shipping from Amazon on January 31, 2026. 8BitDo has not started selling its new Arcade Controller release directly, though. Not only that, but the Transparent Purple Signature Edition is not available in other markets yet.
