Hyperkin has announced a limited edition controller with a design reminiscent of the SNES controller. It features Hall Effect thumbsticks and connects via Bluetooth or USB-C to a plethora of devices, including the Nintendo Switch 2.

Hyperkin has announced a new controller that it describes as a nod to classic 90s controllers. Called the Retro Pixel Art Wireless Controller, the gaming accessory arrives as a rival to 8BitDo's aging SN30 Pro Bluetooth Gamepad.

The Hyperkin Pixel Art Wireless Controller is a limited edition controller, which means there are limited quantities available. The controller has a pixelated design on the front along with purple ABXY buttons. The rest of the buttons on the front including the classic D-pad, symmetric thumbsticks, and Start and Select buttons are black. The shoulder and trigger buttons are gray, just like the shell of the controller.

Hyperkin says the controller has Hall Effect thumbsticks, gyro support, and a turbo function. It connects via Bluetooth but also supports a wired connection using a USB Type-C cable. Its built-in battery will provide over 15 hours of gameplay, which is a little less than the 18 hours 8BitDo says the SN30 Pro is capable of delivering.

The Pixel Art Wireless Controller is compatible with all versions of the Nintendo Switch, including the newer Switch 2. It is also compatible with devices running Android, ChromeOS, iOS, macOS, SteamOS, and Windows 10/11. The spec sheet even mentions compatibility with Raspberry Pi and Tesla cars, and support for Amazon Luna.
