Abxylute has now released its M4, a new snap-on mobile controller for Android and iOS. A much cheaper alternative to the comparable MCon, the Abxylute M4 attaches to iPhones via a built-in MagSafe stand that supports the Qi2 standard too. Also, Abxylute includes adhesive adapters for smartphones that do not contain built-in Qi2-compatible magnets.
Moreover, the controller portion of the Abxylute M4 connects to smartphones using Bluetooth. Therefore, it is also compatible with other systems like the Nintendo Switch or Windows. Abxylute does not mention Switch 2 (curr. $449 on Amazon) support though, which required a firmware update to activate on 8BitDo controllers.
According to Abxylute, the M4 weighs around 55 g excluding its detachable magnetic stand, despite containing a battery rated for up to 13 hours of usage between charges. As the company's marketing show, the M4 also features ABXY buttons, in-line triggers, a relatively large d-pad and PSP-style analog sticks. Incidentally, Abxylute includes different coloured buttons for the M4's Black Translucent, Grey and Orange finishes.
The Abxylute M4 is available to back on Kickstarter today for $39 for a 20% discount. Please note that Abxylute's crowdfunding campaign will run until December 12, with initial shipments set for mid-December. After that, Abxylute will pivot to selling the M4 on its website, where it will be available for $49.99.
