Asus has now officially released its ROG XG Mobile (2025) eGPUs across the US, Canada and Australia, with more regional launches set to come. Available with Nvidia GeForce RTX 5070 Ti or GeForce RTX 5090 laptop GPUs, the ROG XG Mobile (2025) also packs a 120 Gbps capable Thunderbolt 5 port and vapour chamber cooling.

Asus has now officially released ROG XG Mobile (2025) in the US, almost a year after it showcased its latest eGPU solution in Las Vegas during CES 2025. To recap, retailer EXcaliber PC began offering 2025 editions over two weeks ago. However, we were none the wiser about when Asus would start selling the ROG XG Mobile (2025) directly.

As expected, the ROG XG Mobile (2025) starts at $1,299.99 with an Nvidia GeForce RTX 5070 Ti laptop GPU that boasts 12 GB of GDDR7 VRAM. Incidentally, this option can now be purchased officially on Amazon US too for the same price tag. Meanwhile, the GeForce RTX 5090 laptop edition jumps to $2,499 with 24 GB GDDR7 VRAM while retaining Thunderbolt 5 (120 Gbps) connectivity, redesigned vapour chamber cooling and a 330 W built-in power supply.

Currently, RTX 5070 Ti and RTX 5090 SKUs are on back order at Newegg. Moreover, B&H Photo Video plans to offer the RTX 5090 variant too, although the retailer only lists this option as 'coming soon' at the time of publication. Unfortunately, Asus only indicates that the ROG XG Mobile (2025) will start at £1,399 in the UK with no mention of Eurozone pricing. In comparison, 2025 editions currently start at AU$4,999 and CA$1,999 in Australia and Canada, respectively.

In the meantime, Cyber Dopamine and ETA Prime have already posted early impressions with the GeForce RTX 5090 variant. Ultimately, both praise the added performance that the ROG XG Mobile (2025) brings to triple-A games. Likewise, the GeForce RTX 5090 variant performs well in 3DMark Steel Nomad and 3DMark TimeSpy with scores that only just trail an equivalently powerful gaming laptop.

The eGPU boosts Geekbench 6 OpenCL scores by over 3x compared with the Radeon 890M iGPU inside a ROG Xbox Ally X, too. With that being said, gaming handhelds are limited to USB4 or Thunderbolt 4 ports. As a result, they cannot currently take full advantage of the eGPU's added Thunderbolt 5 bandwidth.
