While AMD Zen 5 CPUs are common on the latest laptops, most target a TDP of 45 W to 65 W even on the high performance end. One particular exception, however, is the Ryzen AI Max+ 395 which targets a TDP of 120 W for extra performance. The CPU can't be found on most laptops due to its heftier cooling requirements, but it has nonetheless found a home on some of the fastest mini PCs of 2025.
As shown by our benchmarks below and our recent review of the Framework Desktop, the Ryzen AI Max+ 395 handily outperforms most other mini PCs in the market including the Minisforum AtomMan G7 Ti and its Core i9-14900HX. The Minisforum MS-A2 is a notable exception with its faster Ryzen 9 9955HX, but it's paired with a very slow Radeon 610M solution and no integrated NPU.
The integrated Radeon 8060S GPU is where the Ryzen AI Max+ 395 shines even brighter as it's roughly 3x to 3.5x faster than the Radeon 890M for a performance level in between that of the mobile GeForce RTX 4060 and mobile RTX 4070. It essentially turns mini PCs like the Beelink SER9 Pro, Framework Desktop, or BOSGAME M5 into gaming PCs wholly capable of running the latest titles at 1080p or 1440p.
Mini PCs with dedicated GPUs will still generally outperform the Ryzen AI Max+ 395 in graphics, but they also tend to be larger and more power hungry in the process. We hope to see the AMD CPU in more mini PCs or performance laptops as it remains relatively uncommon.
