8BitDo launches Bluetooth wireless controllers globally with new versions

8BitDo has now released its latest 8BitDo 64 controller refresh. Accompanying an equivalent update for the Analogue 3D, the Prototype Limited Editions is also the second batch of translucent 8BitDo 64 controllers that the company has offered in two months. At the same time, 8BitDo only recently started shipping the Classic Grey version of the same controller too (curr. $44.99 on Amazon).
When counting the 8BitDo 64's original Black and White finishes, 8BitDo already sold eleven versions of its Nintendo 64-inspired controller. Nonetheless, its new Prototype Limited Editions release adds another five to the mix. Specifically, 8BitDo has created Atomic Purple, Extreme Green, Ocean, Ghost and Glacier options.
As the images below show, these new options all have translucent finishes. Inspired by Nintendo 64 prototype colours, the Prototype Limited Editions are said to be available in 'highly limited quantities'. However, 8BitDo made this claim for the Funtastic Limited Editions, all of which remain in stock at the time of publication.
8BitDo has priced the Prototype Limited Editions at $44.99. A $5 price increase over the Black and White versions of the 8BitDo 64, this pricing matches the amounts 8BitDo charges for Classic Grey and Funtastic Limited Editions options. 8BitDo will begin shipping its Prototype Limited Edition controllers in April 2026. Not only that, but 8BitDo is only stocking its Prototype Limited Editions on its eShop.
