While there’s still plenty of time before Sony officially announces the PS6, a new leak has surfaced that gives us an early idea of how much RAM it could offer.

Sony is still a while away from officially revealing the PS6, but leaks and rumors are already starting to paint a clearer picture. The console is expected to arrive sometime in 2026. Some rumors suggest manufacturing will begin in mid-2027, with a full release planned for Fall 2027 or early 2028. And now, a new leak has revealed details about one important component: memory.

The latest information comes from Kepler L2, a source known for sharing reliable hardware-related leaks in the past. According to the leak, the PS6 will feature 30GB of GDDR7 RAM, 6GB more than what the previous rumors claimed. The report also claims the memory will run on a 160-bit bus, delivering 640GB/s of memory bandwidth. This setup reportedly uses 3GB memory modules, with a total of 10 modules placed on the motherboard. If accurate, this would be a major upgrade compared to the current PS5, which comes with 16GB of GDDR6 RAM.

That said, there is an important factor to consider. The tech industry is currently dealing with a memory crisis. RAM prices have been rising quickly, and supply constraints are expected to continue for the next few years. While adding more memory would clearly benefit performance, it could also drive up the overall cost of the console.

One user suggested that 20GB of RAM would be a more sensible option for the PS6, mainly because of the rising cost of RAM. The user added that moving all the way up to 30GB could add another $100 to the console’s MSRP. Kepler L2 disagreed with that take and claimed that 20GB would not be enough for the console. While he acknowledged that the extra memory could increase the total cost by $100, he believes Sony will simply have to deal with the higher cost for the first one or two years, until memory prices start to come down.
