4.8-litre Minisforum MS-02 Ultra Mini PC tested with low-profile RX 9600 XT
YouTuber ETA Prime routinely tests Mini PCs in both synthetic and gaming workloads. This time around, the YouTuber has put the Minisforum MS-02 Ultra through its paces. The cool thing about this Mini PC is that ETA Prime took advantage of the PCIe x16 5.0 slot available inside the Minisforum MS-02 Ultra to slot in a low-profile AMD Radeon RX 9060 XT 16 GB.
Before we jump into covering ETA Prime’s gaming test, be sure to check out our in-depth review of the Minisforum MS-02 Ultra that we did back in January 2026. ETA Prime’s SKU uses the same Core Ultra 9 285HX as our review unit.
Jumping straight into gaming performance, ETA Prime’s use of a low-profile RX 9060 XT inside the Minisforum MS-02 Ultra made the Mini PC a seriously good 1440p gaming machine. The Mini PC ran games like Forza Horizon 6, Cyberpunk 2077, Doom: The Dark Ages, and more without any hitches.
In Forza Horizon 6, the Minisforum MS-02 Ultra with the RX 9060 XT achieved an average FPS of over 80 at 1440p with “Extreme” settings and no FSR. FSR should be able to push the game into 100+ FPS territory. The same is true for Doom: The Dark Ages, where the Minisforum MS-02 Ultra played the game at 80+ FPS at 1440p with “Ultra” settings and without any image upscaling.
That said, super demanding games like Crimson Desert will need FSR to hit a smooth frame rate at 1440p with high/maximum settings. ETA Prime’s test run of Crimson Desert had the Minisforum MS-02 Ultra playing the game at 60+ FPS at 1440p with “Ultra” settings and FSR 4.1 “Quality”.
Finally, in Cyberpunk 2077, you can get a super smooth framerate if you are open to using Frame Generation. The RX 9060 XT can push over 130 FPS in Cyberpunk 2077 at 1440p with “Ultra” graphics and FSR Frame Gen enabled.
Minisforum MS-02 Ultra stays cool
Despite the fast internals and limited internal space, the MS-02 Ultra does stay relatively cool, per ETA Prime. The YouTuber measured a maximum CPU and GPU temperature of just 78 C and 69 C, respectively. The average temperature readings were even better, as the GPU averaged around 61 C while the CPU got a bit hotter at 63 C.
All in all, if you are interested in building a compact gaming PC setup, the Minisforum MS-02 Ultra with a low-profile GPU can be a good option. The barebones MS-02 Ultra Mini PC can be yours for as low as $599 with a Core Ultra 5 235HX. The version with a Core Ultra 9 285HX retails for $1,159. For both SKUs, you’ll need to bring in RAM and storage.
