Deal | 90% off: Fast-paced looter shooter with over 70 weapons now under $3 on Steam

In Shadow Warrior 2, players once again take on the role of wisecracking mercenary Lo Wang, who fights his way through a rather unusual mix of Eastern temples, demonic landscapes and futuristic cyberpunk environments. After a mission goes wrong, he gets caught between different factions and has to deal not only with familiar faces but also with hordes of demons. The shooter is currently part of the Steam Autumn Sale and remains 90% off until October 8. This brings the price down to $2.99 from just under $29.99. According to SteamDB, this matches the previous all-time low, last reached in September.
In terms of gameplay, Shadow Warrior 2 is all about speed and variety. There are more than 70 weapons to choose from – ranging from pistols, shotguns and rocket launchers to katanas, claws and chainswords. On top of that, there are upgrades, elemental damage effects and skills that allow Lo Wang to heal himself, turn invisible or become more powerful in melee combat. The loot system constantly provides new gear and better weapons. The entire campaign can be played solo or online with up to four players. For additional variety, many mission areas are repeatedly rearranged from handcrafted building blocks, meaning routes, enemies and weather conditions can change.

In its German review, GameStar particularly praised the fast and impactful gunplay, huge variety of weapons and rewarding loot and upgrade system. Different character builds add further depth, while the co-op mode and high replay value round out the package. Shadow Warrior 2 isn't without its weaknesses, however: Many mission objectives are fairly simple, and the procedurally generated areas don't always match the quality of fully handcrafted levels. Then there's Lo Wang's crude humor, which probably won't appeal to everyone. Overall, however, the verdict was still highly positive: GameStar awarded the game 90 out of 100 points.
The Steam community's verdict is similarly favorable, with 87% of more than 28,000 player reviews being positive. Metacritic lists the shooter with a Metascore of 78, while the User Score stands at 7.8. There's also good news for handheld gamers: Shadow Warrior 2 is officially rated as “Verified” on Steam Deck and should therefore run smoothly on the go.
By the way: Anyone who wants to experience Lo Wang's story from the beginning can currently pick up the first Shadow Warrior at a bargain price too. Its predecessor is also 90% off and costs just $2.99 until October 8.
