Our review of the Mac mini M6 reveals significantly improved graphics and gaming performance, allowing even demanding titles like Cyberpunk or Baldur’s Gate 3 to run with absolute fluidity at Full HD resolution and high detail settings. To round out the picture, we also conducted additional benchmarks using native titles.
For Cyberpunk we tested higher settings, including ray tracing. At native Full HD resolution, the game was just barely playable at 33 fps. Activating Metal FX boosts performance to 44 fps, and enabling frame generation pushes the frame rate to 80 fps.
We also examined the extremely demanding Crimson Desert. Here, the M6 initially manages 30 fps at Full HD resolution with maximum detail settings. However, Frame Generation makes a huge difference here as well, doubling the frame rate to 60 fps and ensuring a very smooth gaming experience. Across the three titles Resident Evil Village, No Man’s Sky, and DOTA 2, the M6 also delivers strong performance at Full HD and maximum detail settings, easily achieving over 80 fps.
The M6's enhanced gaming performance is also good news for upcoming MacBook Air updates. While performance will be slightly lower there due to passive cooling, it will still be possible to play the aforementioned titles smoothly, and without annoying fan noise. In this regard, Apple holds a clear advantage over competitors like AMD, Intel, and Qualcomm.
