Infinix Note 40 tipped to combine Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra-esque specs with budget platform - again
The premise of the Infinix Note 30 is fairly simple: take some primary selling points from 2023's most premium Android smartphones such as the Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra, its 120Hz refresh rate for a large punch-holed ~6.8-inch display; 45W wired charging and "mega" 5,000mAh battery included - then introduce compromises such as an FHD+ resolution and IPS for said screen, 8GB of RAM, and an extremely well-worn processor in order to be much more affordable.
Now, it seems that formula worked so well that the OEM will recycle it in the upcoming Note 40. It has reportedly been spotted on the Google Play Console as the Infinix X6853 with another FHD+ panel seemingly driven by a 2-2.2GHz SoC with a 1,068MHz ARM Mali-G57 GPU (very possibly the same Helio G99 from the Note 30 series, in other words).
The X6853 has also been registered by the FCC, which confirms the retention of 45W charging and a lack of 5G. It does, however, appear to have upgraded to Android 14 and triple rear cameras in these initial leaks, at least.
The Note 40 is also thought to be joined by a 40 Pro (or Infinix X6850) in 2024. This device has yet to appear on the FCC website at the time of writing, yet might also have largely unchanged specs year-on-year (which largely consist of upgrades to AMOLED, 68W wired charging and 15W wireless charging over the vanilla variant) - except for the fact that it is depicted with a curved screen where the Note 30 and 30 Pro launched with flat displays.
Nevertheless, some Infinix fans might wonder whether the Note 40 series as outlined in this new leaks has what it takes to stand out among its rivals - especially with the looming threat of the new Realme Note series that might threaten its share of certain budget markets in 2024.
