HP Pavilion 15-n020tx

The HP Pavilion 15 series certainly brings about some great laptops and the HP Pavilion 15-n029sr is just one of the many. The Pavilion 15-n020tx comes with an Intel Core i5 4200U, which is quite a decent processor for laptops, but not one of the greatest. This Haswell-based dual core processor can clock up to 2.6 GHz with turbo boost on and is equipped with a dual channel DDR3 memory. The best thing about this graphics card is probably that it comes paired with an Intel HD Graphics 4400, which offers great graphics.

Aside from the built-in graphics card, this laptop also comes with the Nvidia GeForce GT 740M, which is a rather average graphics card of the series, but is still a rather decent graphics card when compared to the market. It is built upon the Kepler architecture and gives better than average graphics for gamers. The screen of the laptop however, does not fully make use of its graphical capabilities. Measuring 15.6 inches, the display only comes with a 1366 by 768 pixel dimension. Although it is lighter compared to laptops of this screen size (the HP Pavilion 15-n029sr only weighs 2.4 kg), the lack of screen clarity is certainly something that may be a deal breaker.

All in all, the HP Pavilion 15-n029sr is a laptop that will do very well for normal use but might fail to produce satisfying results when faced with higher graphical requirement tasks.

40% HP Pavilion 15 and Its Disastrous Display

Today we're looking at the latest version of a long line of 15.6" HP Pavilion laptops. This Pavilion has no surprises in store. It offers a standard user experience for a mid-range laptop, but has such a disastrous display that it drags everything else down with it.

Source: Techradar English
The HP Pavilion 15 isn't a machine for everyone. In fact we'd suggest that it's best as a second machine for the home that everyone can grab as needed. Even so, if you're looking for a straightforward laptop on a tight budget, it does more than its pricing would have you believe. Admittedly you won't be playing the latest games on it, and anything that is too processor-intensive is going to take a while, but overall it's not a bad little machine at all.

Inexpensive all-around laptop. With the Pavilion 15-n213eg, HP offers a gaming capable 15.6-inch notebook. The buyer will not only get powerful hardware, but also a big storage capacity and 8 GB of RAM for 600 Euros (~$832). HP Pavilion 15-n029sr

The HP Pavilion 15-n029sr is a quality laptop for everyday tasks. It comes with an AMD A10-5745M CPU, which works quietly and effectively. To top it off, it also has an integrated AMD Radeon HD 8670M, which will keep most gamers happy. 8 GB of RAM will help reduce ‘lags’ and it has a 1TB hard disk capacity. The 15.6" screen makes it a mid-sized laptop, which have been getting more popular as of late. The resolution of 1366 by 768 pixels is pretty standard for a screen of that size so don’t expect cutting edge clarity on your screen. Coupled with its integrated graphics card, the HP Pavilion is capable of producing beautiful and clear colors and contrast, but not to the extent of high-end laptops.

The battery life of this device is one of its most impressive qualities. With a 2620 mAh battery, it is able to last for much longer than your conventional laptops. Furthermore, the battery is detachable, so replacing the battery to extend the working life of the laptop even further is possible.

The HP Pavilion 15-n029sr is a great replacement for your home desktop. It is a little big and chunky to be brought around often but is priced very well, making it one of the best value for money laptops around.

With a good display, large hard disk and attractive chassis, this sub-£350 laptop is a very good deal. However, it's not as powerful as the Best Buy winning Toshiba Satellite C50-A-156, which is similarly priced. If you plan to work away from power sockets and don’t mind the laptop's bulk, though, we've seen few laptops in this price range with such impressive battery life.

Modern games should be playable with these graphics cards at low settings and resolutions. Casual gamers may be happy with these cards.

AMD Radeon HD 8670M: Lower mid-range graphics card based on the GCN architecture.

Intel HD Graphics 4000: Processor graphics card in the high end Ivy Bridge models. Offers a different clock speed in the different CPU models (ULV to desktop quad core) and therefore a different performance.

With these GPUs you are able to play modern and demanding games fluently at medium detail settings and HD resolution.

NVIDIA GeForce GT 740M: Mid-range graphics card of the GeForce GT 700M series. Based on the Kepler architecture and manufactured by TSMC in a 28nm process.

NVIDIA GeForce 840M:

Mid-range graphics card from the GeForce 800M series based on the Maxwell architecture.

Non demanding games should be playable with these graphics cards.

AMD Radeon HD 8330:

An integrated GCN-based GPU with 128 shader units and no dedicated VRAM. It is typically clocked at 500 MHz and paired with AMD Richland A4-5000 "Kabini" APUs.

» Further information can be found in our Comparison of Mobile Graphics Cards and the corresponding Benchmark List.

Intel Core i7: The Intel Core i7 for laptops is based on the LG1156 Core i5/i7 CPU for desktops. The base clock speed of the CPUs is relatively low, but because of a huge Turbo mode, the cores can dynamically overclock to up to 3.2 GHz (920XM). Therefore, the CPU can be as fast as high clocked dual-core CPUs (using single threaded applications) but still offer the advantage of 4 cores. Because of the large TDP of 45 W / 55 W, the CPU is only intended for large laptops.

3632QM: An Ivy Bridge-based quad-core processor clocked at 2.2 GHz with Turbo Boost support up to 3.2 GHz. Offers an integrated HD Graphics 4000 GPU and a dual channel DDR3 memory controller. The speciality of the i7-3632QM is the low TDP of 35 Watt compared to 45 Watt of the other Ivy Bridge quad core CPUs (e.g. 3610QM).

4510U: Haswell-based ULV dual-core processor clocked at 2.0 GHz with Turbo Boost support up to 3.1 GHz. Offers an integrated HD Graphics 4400 and a dual-channel DDR3 memory controller.

Intel Core i3:

3110M: Ivy-Bridge-based dual-core, 2.4 GHz core clock (no turbo), includes HD 4000 GPU

Intel Core i5:

4200U:

Haswell-based ULV dual-core processor clocked at 1.6 GHz with Turbo Boost support up to 2.6 GHz. Offers an integrated HD Graphics 4400 and a dual-channel DDR3 memory controller.

AMD A-Series:

A4-5000: Quad-core APU for low-end laptops, codenamed Kabini. Based on the Jaguar architecture. Integrates an Radeon HD 8330 graphics card.

A10-5745M: Low-voltage quad-core processor with only two FPUs and an integrated Radeon HD 8610G graphics card.

15.6: 15 inch display-variants are the standard and are used for more than the half of all notebooks. 15.4 inch display with 16:10 are the standard for notebook displays. However nowadays, more and more 16:9 displays with 15.6 inch appear. The reason why so many people like displays with medium size is, that this size is not exhausting for the eyes, does not need too much energy and the laptops can be kept quite compact.

» To find out how fine a display is, see our DPI List.

2.3 kg:

These sub-notebooks weight less than the average of all notebooks, but represent a heavier class of weight among the sub-notebooks. 13 inch displays are normal for this class of weight.

2.4 kg:

This notebook is lighter than the average of all notebooks. It is too heavy for sub-notebooks. 14 inch displays are normal for this class of weight.

72.86%: This rating is bad. Most notebooks are better rated. This is not a recommendation for purchase.
