While Samsung's plans for the Galaxy S25 Edge's successor remain unclear, Apple looks certain to release a follow-up to the iPhone Air next year, details of which have now surfaced online.
As shared by leaker Digital Chat Station, the successor to the iPhone Air is in the works. This device could be branded as the iPhone Air 2 or iPhone 18 Air, and is set to retain the display of the iPhone Air, as well as its camera plateau and overall emphasis on being as svelte as possible.
One potential change on the next-gen iPhone Air, however, could be the inclusion of a second rear camera. The iPhone Air features a single 48 MP rear camera but the source claims Apple is considering equipping next year's phone with another 48 MP snapper, likely beneath an ultra-wide angle lens—a move that would ensure camera parity with the base model iPhone.
Either way, Apple will likely have to deliver an obvious evolution on the next-gen Air if the model is to remain viable. Like with the Galaxy S25 Edge, early sales numbers for the lineup show that the Air is, by far, the worst-selling model, and a continuation of that trend next year could well spell doom for the ultra-thin model.
