Xiaomi releases a new video doorbell, the Smart Cat Eye 1S, with facial recognition
Xiaomi has announced the Xiaomi Smart Cat Eye 1S, a combined video doorbell and door viewer. The device comes in two parts, the combined doorbell and door viewer, which you fit into your door and a separate linked tablet you can mount on the wall in your house; the display has a 5-in (~13 cm) IPS screen.
The 160° wide-angle camera has an F2.0 aperture and streams in 1080p. The doorbell works at night thanks to four 940 nm infrared sensors. Other intelligent features include AI human detection and facial recognition, so the device can tell you if someone is at the door and who they are if recognised.
The smart doorbell will alert you if it detects suspicious activity outside your home. The Xiaomi Smart Cat Eye 1S doorbell button will also light up when a person is detected, reminding the visitor to push it.
The smart gadget has a voice changing tool for the intercom, which Xiaomi says is a safety feature. You can initiate video calls and answer the door remotely, and you can use the camera to check the weather before you leave the house.
You can connect multiple devices to the Xiaomi Smart Cat Eye 1S using Mijia smart linkage so that any household member can answer the door. The smart doorbell has an 8,000 mAh lithium battery which can last up to 6 months between charges. You can recharge the gadget via USB-C. You can now buy the Xiaomi Smart Cat Eye 1S in China for 699 yuan (~US$110).
