Alexa can now notify Amazon customers of deals up to 24 hours in advance
Amazon has added a new deal notifications tool to Alexa. You can now set the smart assistant to alert you up to 24 hours before a deal becomes available for an item you are interested in. The company said that it had added this new feature to make its customers’ lives more convenient.
The tool gages your interest by looking at your wish list, your shopping cart, and products you’ve saved for later. The alert on your Echo device will either be a yellow ring light or a pop-up notification. To find out what the offer is, you can ask, “Alexa, what are my notifications?”.
You can also set up Alexa to buy the item for you when the offer becomes available, with the voice command “Alexa, buy it for me”. Amazon will use the default payment method and delivery address for the purchase.
Amazon clarified that this feature would only be available on certain products, such as the Kindle Paperwhite. The tool joins Alexa’s existing shopping aids, such as a shopping list, notifications to reorder your favourite items and answering questions about products.
The deal alert feature is currently available to customers in the US with newer generation Echo smart devices. It is unclear whether or when Amazon will roll out this tool to customers in other countries.
