Xiaomi has now refreshed the POCO F series, which topped out at the POCO F5 Pro (curr. $498 on Amazon) until today. While the POCO F5 Pro utilises the still powerful Snapdragon 8 Plus Gen 1, Xiaomi has equipped the POCO F6 with the much newer Snapdragon 8s Gen 3 within a 179 g and 160.5 x 74.5 x 8 mm housing. To recap, Qualcomm presented the Snapdragon 8s Gen 3 in mid-March, which was shortly followed by the release of the CIVI 4 Pro in China.
Subsequently, Xiaomi introduced the Redmi Turbo 3, upon which it appears the POCO F6 is based. For reference, although several Snapdragon 8s Gen 3-powered smartphones exist in China, the POCO F6 is only the second global model to sport the flagship chipset after last month's unveiling of the Motorola Edge 50 Ultra. The POCO F6 Pro is significantly cheaper than its Motorola counterpart though, which retails for £849.99 and €999.99 in the Eurozone.
By contrast, the POCO F6 retails for £399.90/€449.90 with 8 GB of RAM and 256 GB of storage. As always, Xiaomi is offering various early bird pricing discounts, which we have listed below. Like the Redmi Turbo 3 before it, the POCO F6 finds itself with a 6.67-inch AMOLED display that outputs at 1.5K with a 120 Hz refresh rate and 2,400 nits peak brightness (1,000-1,200 nits HBM).
Moreover, Xiaomi has included LPDDR5X RAM, UFS 4.0 flash storage and a 5,000 mAh battery that supports 90 W wired charging. On top of that, the POCO F6 has a 50 MP primary camera with an f/1.59 aperture, 1.6 μm wide pixels (4-in-1 pixel binning) and optical image stabilisation (OIS). Incidentally, Xiaomi has complemented the device's primary camera with 8 MP ultra-wide-angle and 20 MP front-facing (f/2.2) cameras. The POCO F6 will go on sale on May 23 in black, green and titanium colours for the following prices:
- 8 GB RAM/256 GB storage - £339.90/€389.90 (Early Bird) / £399.90/€449.90 (MSRP)
- 12 GB RAM/512 GB storage - £369.90/€419.90 (Early Bird) / £449.90/€499.90 (MSRP)
