MWC 2024 | Xiaomi 14 lands in Europe for €999 as new compact flagship to rival Apple iPhone 15 Pro and Samsung Galaxy S24
Xiaomi has now confirmed global pricing and availability for the Xiaomi 14, the company's alternative to the Galaxy S24 and the iPhone 15 Pro, among other smaller flagships. To recap, the Xiaomi 14 debuted in October 2023 across China alongside the Xiaomi 14 Pro as one of the first Snapdragon 8 Gen 3-powered smartphones. Please note that Xiaomi has seemingly decided against offering the Xiaomi 14 Pro outside its home market, with the Xiaomi 14 Ultra serving as Xiaomi's larger global flagship instead.
Based on Xiaomi's specification sheet, the global and Chinese versions of the Xiaomi 14 are only separated by their supported cellular bands. According to Xiaomi, the global Xiaomi 14 masters the following 2G, 3G, 4G and 5G bands:
- 5G: n1/2/3/5/7/8/20/25/28/38/40/41/48/66/75/77/78
- 4G/LTE FDD: B1/2/3/4/5/7/8/12/13/17/18/19/20/25/26/28/32/66
- 4G/LTE TDD: B38/39/40/41/42/48
- 3G/WCDMA: B1/2/4/5/6/8/19
- 2G/GSM: B2/3/5/8
In other words, the findings and experiences described in our review of the Chinese Xiaomi 14 should apply to its global model. Unfortunately, Xiaomi has decided against bringing all the Xiaomi 14 SKUs that it sells in China to other markets. Specifically, the global model will not be available with 16 GB of RAM, 1 TB of storage or in a pink colourway.
Instead, the Xiaomi 14 will start in Europe with 12 GB of RAM and 256 GB or 512 GB of storage for €999.90 and €1,099.90, respectively. Consequently, while the Xiaomi 14 retails for €100 more than its predecessor in Europe, it does with more storage and RAM. Having said that, Xiaomi did run a €100 or 10% coupon campaign for the Xiaomi 14, details of which we have covered separately. Also, Xiaomi will bundle a Pad 6 tablet worth €399.90 with pre-orders placed between February 25 and March 11.
