XMG has not updated its "entry-level" Focus gaming laptops since around this time in 2021. However, these refreshes may have been worth waiting for, thanks to a step up to 12th-gen Intel silicon and a different choice of RTX 3000-series graphics.
The Focus M22 line-up also differs from their M21 counterparts in that it introduces a new variant, the first XMG laptop to combine its screen size with a 16:10 aspect-ratio. It also offers a 165Hz refresh rate, whereas those of the 15 M22 and 17 M22 are 144Hz; furthermore, the 16 M22 is the only WQXGA (2,560x1,600) model.
Then again, all 3 variants have IPS panels of no more than 400 nits in maximum brightness. Then again, the Focus M22 series benefits from MUX switches, dual USB type-C ports, Thunderbolt 4 and Wi-Fi 6E across the board. XMG also asserts that the upgrade from RTX 3050 Ti graphics renders them capable of more than light gaming this time around.
The XMG Focus M22 series offers at least 16GB of DDR4-3200 RAM (configurable to 64GB) and a 500GB Samsung 980 SSD (which can be doubled with ease). The 15 M22 will start from €1,679 (~US$1,688), whereas the 17 M22 will do so from €1,729 (~US$1,739).
The Focus 16 M22's base model, on the other hand, has been set at €1,749 (~US$1,759) thanks to its upgraded screen. The 3 laptops will be available on Bestware in the EU from now, with a 10% introductory discount that applies until September 8, 2022.
