CES 2022 | Asus TUF Dash F15, TUF Gaming F15/F17 with Alder Lake-H and RTX 30 140 W and TUF Gaming A15/A17 with Ryzen 7 6800H launched with dedicated MUX switch
Asus has announced new updates to its TUF Gaming lineup at CES 2022. This includes the new TUF Dash 15, TUF Gaming F15 and F17, and the TUF Gaming A15 and A17. This year, Asus is offering a dedicated MUX key on all TUF Gaming models. Flipping this key switch will bypass the integrated GPU and output frames from the discrete GPU directly to the display, which should result in a perceivable performance boost.
Asus TUF Dash F15
This year's TUF Dash F15 gets upgraded to up to an Intel Core i7-12650H processor. We still get the Nvidia GeForce RTX 3070 Laptop GPU, up to 16 GB DDR5-4800 RAM, and now two slots for PCIe Gen 4 NVMe SSDs. Asus hasn't specified if the RTX 3070 in the new TUF Dash F15 is getting a TDP boost like other models in the 2022 TUF Gaming series.
The TUF Dash F15 can be configured with a choice of either a FHD 300 Hz or a QHD 165 Hz panel with Adaptive Sync and a 3 ms response time. Asus said that it has improved the cooling of the laptop while also offering a 27% larger touchpad. USB Type-C power delivery, Thunderbolt 4, a 76 Whr battery, and of course the MIL-STD-810H-level toughness that the TUF devices are traditionally known for.
Asus TUF Gaming F15 and TUF Gaming F17
The Asus TUF Gaming F15 and TUF Gaming F17 are a slight step-up from the TUF Dash F15 and offer up to the Core i7-12700H Alder Lake-H processor with support for DDR5-4800 RAM. Asus said that buyers can configure these laptops with RTX 30 series GPUs with up to a 140 W max TDP. There is no indication about options of the new RTX 3070 Ti and RTX 3080 Ti Laptop GPUs, however. Other improvements such as the dedicated MUX switch, Thunderbolt 4, up to QHD 165 Hz displays with a 3 ms response time are seen as well. The battery is also rated higher than the TUF Dash F15 at 90 Whr.
Asus TUF Gaming A15 and TUF Gaming A17
The 2022 TUF Gaming series also embraces the latest APU options from Team Red. The TUF Gaming A15 and TUF Gaming A17 offer up to the AMD Ryzen 7 6800H APU with support for DDR5-4800 RAM. There is no Thunderbolt 4 offered, but Asus provides USB 3.2 Gen 2 with DisplayPort 1.4-out. The rest of the specifications are similar to that of the TUF Gaming F15 and F17 offerings.
Asus hasn't given any availability timeframe or expected prices, but the TUF Gaming has traditionally been priced lower compared to the ROG options.
