CES 2022 | Elegant 2022 Gigabyte AORUS and AERO laptops land with new 16" model, up to 4K 120Hz mini-LED, RTX 3080, and Core i9-12900 specs

The main complaint of every Gigabyte laptop fan has finally been heard, and the new 2022 laptops in the AORUS gaming and AERO creator lines have finally been equipped with top-bezel Windows Hello cameras. Well, save for the cheapest AORUS 5 and AERO 5 2022 models, but let's not get the perfect be the enemy of the good enough. In previous generations, the cameras were tucked below the display, going for the infamous chin perspective during video conferencing. That's the least of the new 2022 Gigabyte laptop upgrades, though, as the company introduced a new, 16" form factor to its AERO line, adding to the 15" and 17" laptops of yesteryear. Gigabyte also thinned out the screen bezel to 3mm, gunning for a 90% screen-to-body ratio, or every marketing department's favorite "17-inch laptop in a 15-inch footprint" slogan. In all honesty, the move has allowed it to reduce the size of its 2022 laptops by more than 10% which is a commendable achievement.

Gigabyte also introduced fast 120Hz 4K OLED HDR displays, as well as a unique 4K 120Hz mini-LED panel on the top AERO model for the first time, and blessed it with a 1000 nits of peak brightness. Gamers who are enamored by the AORUS line and its mechanical keyboard will be happy to hear that new 360Hz FHD or QHD@165Hz display options have been made available for fast-paced action. When we add the 12th Gen Intel Core i9 or i7 processors and up to RTX 3080 Ti graphics, the 2022 Razer Blade series better watch out. As usual, all new Gigabyte laptops come with the maximum 99Wh battery allowed for air travel, and the company promises at least six hours of battery life under a workload which has been our review experience with Gigabyte's AERO or AORUS machines as well. As you can see, even the lowly AORUS 5 and AERO 5 2022 models of Gigabyte now come with upgraded, up to 4K OLED displays plus the new 3mm bezel design, and those are going to be the cheapest of the 2022 Gigabyte models. Speaking of dollars, the new Gigabyte AORUS 5/15/17, or AERO 5/16/17 2022 prices are yet to be revealed, but if history is any indication they will be released shortly after their announcement with the corresponding price tags.
