CES 2022 | ASUS ROG Flow X13 refreshed with an AMD Ryzen 9 6900HS with RTX 3080 and RX 6850M XT connectivity
ASUS has upgraded the ROG Flow X13 again, having last done so in May 2021. Initially, the company presented the convertible with up to an AMD Ryzen 9 5980HS and an NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1650 Max-Q GPU. The company's latest iteration retains the RTX 3050 Ti of May's refresh but replaces the Ryzen 5000 hardware with its Ryzen 6000 successor. The 13.4-inch and 16:10 display from previous models remains though, as does its lightweight build.
This time, ASUS has refreshed the ROG Flow X13 with the Ryzen 9 6900HS, the fourth most powerful laptop APU in the Ryzen 6000 series. For reference, the Ryzen 9 6900HX, Ryzen 9 6980HS and Ryzen 9 6980HX all offer slightly more performance than the Ryzen 9 6900HS does, whether that be CPU clock speeds or TDP. Still, the Ryzen 9 6900HS has 8 cores, 16 threads, a 4.9 GHz boost clock, 20 MB of L2 and L3 cache, all on a 35 W TDP.
Additionally, the Ryzen 9 6900HS has the Radeon 680M, an iGPU based on AMD's RDNA 2 architecture. The Radeon 680M also contains 12 GPU cores that can run at up to 2.4 GHz and enough performance to match the GeForce MX450 in some popular AAA games. However, you can connect the ROG Flow X13 to an RTX 3080 or RX 6850M XT via an external graphics dock should you need more graphics performance.
ASUS has not confirmed how much the new ROG Flow X13 costs, nor when it will be available. Still, the company has announced that the machine will be configurable with up to 32 GB of LPDDR5 RAM, a 1 TB PCIe 4.0 SSD and a 62 Wh battery that supports 100 W charging.
