AMD Radeon RX 6500 XT allegedly listed for EUR 299 (US$338) on a French website
AMD unleashed a barrage of new tech onto us at CES 2022, among which was the low-cost AMD Radeon RX 6500 XT. Many lambasted the card's sub-par specs, which look like something launched in 2019. At the very least, it should run modern-day e-sports titles without any hitches. However, its actual price could go well over AMD's announced US$199.
CowCotland reports that it has spotted one AMD Radeon RX 6500 XT selling for EUR 299 (US$338). The figure, however, is inclusive of local taxes. We also learned that the graphics card would be available in many flavours from AIBs like Asus, Gigabyte, Asrock, etc. It isn't clear which specific Radeon RX 6500 model is listed here, but it could be one of the higher-end SKUs with three fans. We also must consider that the figure is a placeholder price that could be revised later.
Nonetheless, the listing gives us a rough idea of how much money one must set aside for AMD's low-cost offering. Then again, it is unlikely that everyone in the market for an AMD Radeon RX 6500 XT will get one for MSRP. While the card's low VRAM makes it unattractive to miners, availability could be a problem due to scalpers. AMD is unlikely to make too many of these initially, and it would use the manufacturing space to make higher-end products.
