Razer has announced the Blade 17, a 17 inch laptop meant to replace your desktop. The Blade 17 can be configured with up to a 12th gen Intel Core i9-12900HK and an RTX 3080 Ti. The entry-level models are also no slouch either with the Intel Core i7-12800H and an RTX 3060.

CES 2022 was a big event for Razer as the company announced a bunch of different products, most of important of which were the Razer Blade refreshes. Let’s take a look at the company’s flagship, the Razer Blade 17.

Razer calls the Blade 17 “a desktop killer” and looking at the hardware, the tagline isn’t far from the truth. The Blade 17 comes with either a 14-core Intel Core i7-12800H or a 14-core Intel Core i9-12900HK. And depending upon the choice of the screen, you can pair these processors from an entry-level RTX 3060 up to an RTX 3080 Ti.

Moving to the display, the Razer Blade 17 has quite a few options on offer. The entry-level configuration with the RTX 3060 comes equipped with a QHD 165 Hz IPS panel with 100% sRGB coverage. The RTX 3070 Ti model has an FHD screen with a 360 Hz refresh rate also with 100% sRGB coverage. You can also pair the RTX 3070 Ti with a QHD 240 Hz panel with G-Sync and 100% DCI-P3 coverage.

For the most expensive Blade 17 model, you can configure an RTX 3080 Ti with a UHD panel with 100% Adobe RGB coverage.

The storage and memory options of the Blade 17 are also quite extensive. With the base models, you get 1 TB of PCIe Gen 4 storage which you can upgrade to 4 TB. There is also an open M.2 slot, so you can use an SSD of your own to supplement the internal storage. These storage specs remain the same for all models. The memory situation, on the other hand, varies between machines.

For Blade 17’s that can be configured with an RTX 3080 Ti, the base memory configuration is 32 GB of 4800 MHz DDR5 which you can upgrade to 64 GB. The entry models only come with 16GB of DDR5 4800 MHz out of the gate.

Finally, the battery, ports, keyboard layout, and almost everything else remain the same between the less expensive and the more expensive models. Here we are looking at 82 Whr batteries across the board, Razer Chroma RGB keyboards, and a healthy number of ports, including three USB 3.2 Gen 2 Type-A ports and two Thunderbolt 4 ports.

There is also a 2.5 Gb ethernet port, a headphone/microphone combo jack, a single HDMI 2.1, one power port, and a UHS-II capable SD card slot.

Razer will start the pre-orders for the Blade 17 on January 25, 2022, at a starting price of US$2,699.99 (€2,999.99). Orders will start shipping sometime in Q1 2022.
