UltraGear Evo 45GX950B: LG releases new 45-inch OLED gaming monitor with built-in 5K2K upscaling

LG has released several new gaming monitors this year. For instance, the company started selling the UltraGear Evo 27GM950B and the UltraGear OLED 39GX950B (curr. $1,799 on Amazon) in April alone. Also, it has just opened pre-orders for the smaller UltraGear 32GX950B in Japan.
As it turns out, LG has expanded its range of 45-inch gaming monitors with a new option, too. Replacing the UltraGear OLED 45GX950A, the 45GX950B outputs at 5,120 x 2,160 pixels (5K2K) and 165 Hz by default just like its predecessor. Alternatively, the monitor can use Dual Mode technology to hit 330 Hz while cutting its resolution to 5,120 x 1,080.
Likewise, LG's new monitor peaks at 275 nits in SDR mode and rises to 1,300 nits in small areas when viewing HDR content. The company has also included a processor that upscales content from any device to 5K2K. Seemingly, little else has changed from the 45GX950A though, with that monitor's 10 W speakers having been downgraded to 7 W speakers for the 45GX950B.
The 45GX950B carries a JPY 329,800 (~$2,099) MSRP in Japan. However, LG has already discounted its new 45-inch gaming monitor by 21% to JPY 259,800 (~$1,653). Pre-orders will not start shipping until June 11, meaning that a May release in other markets seems unlikely at this stage. Please see LG's website for more details.
