AOC has launched a new 27" gaming monitor with an impressive 4-layer tandem OLED panel and up to 720Hz refresh rate.
AOC has unveiled a brand new gaming monitor featuring up to a whopping 720Hz refresh rate for speedy, fast-paced gaming. The 4-layer tandem OLED panel is also impressively bright, reaching the 1500 nits mark in smaller areas.

AOC has introduced a brand new OLED gaming monitor aimed at budget-conscious gamers who do not have extreme color accuracy requirements but do prefer rich and vivid displays with astronomical refresh rates.

Dubbed the Q27G4KDP, the new gaming monitor has already been launched in China and features a 27-inch WOLED panel with support for dual mode functionality. To be precise, the monitor can switch between 540Hz at QHD and a whopping 720Hz at 720p. Clearly, gamers who prefer visual fidelity, as well as gamers who prefer extreme refresh rates, are both served by the monitor.

Tandem OLED panel for impressive brightness performance

The 26.5-inch panel utilizes a four-stack tandem OLED technology, allowing for an impressive 1,500 nits of brightness in small areas. AOC claims 100% coverage of the sRGB color gamut as well as 99.5% coverage of the DCI-P3 color gamut, making it perfectly well suited for media consumption as well as some light-weight content creation.

The new AOC gaming monitor features a healthy array of ports.

As spotted by ITHome, the primary difference between the Q27G4KDP and the Agon Pro AGP277QKD, which also utilizes the same panel, is the color accuracy performance. While the former boasts ΔE of around 2, the latter boasts impressive color accuracy with ΔE below 1.

Of course, the design is also quite different with the pricier AGP277 boasting the Agon Pro branding, which gives it more oomph and also an overall more gamer-y aesthetic. The Q27G4 gaming monitor also does not get any speakers.

The new AOC gaming monitor sports a design that is typical of most gaming monitors on the market.

Connectivity, pricing and availability

The I/O on offer is quite decent, featuring the following ports:

  • Dual HDMI 2.1
  • DisplayPort 2.1
  • Dual USB 3.2 Gen 1
  • USB upstream
  • Audio output (3.5 mm)

AOC has not yet revealed the pricing details for the Q27G4KDP gaming monitor. Considering the specifications on offer, it would be safe to assume that the monitor would be slightly less expensive than the Agon Pro AGP277QKD monitor.

A launch outside of China is likely, considering that AOC does like to bring its products to the international market. For now, gamers on the hunt for a capable high-refresh gaming monitor can check out something like  ASUS ROG Swift PG27AQWP-W (currently $1,099 on Amazon).
