For the first time this year, Disco Elysium is once again available on Steam at a 90% discount, reducing the regular price from $39.99 to $3.99.

Anyone in the mood for a very different kind of RPG who has not yet played Disco Elysium will currently find a tempting deal on Steam. The game from ZA/UM, which German gaming magazin GameStar called “the best RPG of 2019,” is finally back in the Steam Summer Sale at a 90% discount, costing $3.99 instead of $39.99. According to SteamDB, this matches its all-time low, last reached during the 2025 Winter Sale.

It all begins with a completely wrecked detective who wakes up in a hotel room, having lost his memory somewhere between a liquor bottle and a nervous breakdown, and now has to solve a murder. The story takes place in the run-down harbor district of Martinaise in the fictional city of Revachol. There is no combat in Disco Elysium. Instead, the RPG focuses on dialogue, decisions and inner monologues.

Skills are not just simple values in a skill tree here. Depending on which abilities have been developed, new dialogue options or solutions open up. A high Empathy stat, for example, helps the detective read other characters more accurately, while Logic helps him piece together clues. Other skills, however, can also push him toward absurd ideas or suggest risky actions. Along the way, players encounter plenty of bizarre characters, political tensions and pitch-black humor.

What gamers should keep in mind: this is a very text-heavy game. Anyone who does not feel like reading a lot is probably better off skipping it. For everyone else, judging by the reviews, Disco Elysium is practically a must-play RPG. On Steam, the game has received more than 128,000 reviews, 92% of which are positive. On Metacritic, the RPG even has a Metascore of 97, while the User Score sits at 8.2. Disco Elysium is “Verified” for the Steam Deck.
