Deal | Anno too laid-back? This post-apocalyptic city-builder is now just $2.50 instead of $25 on Steam

Players who sometimes wish Anno had more survival pressure may find Endzone: A World Apart an interesting alternative. Developed by Gentlymad Studios and released in 2021, the game is currently 90% off as part of the Steam Summer Sale, bringing the price down from around $25 to just $2.50. According to SteamDB, this matches the game’s previous best price.
The premise is simple: after a nuclear catastrophe, humanity spent 150 years surviving in underground bunkers. Now, people are returning to the surface, which is anything but safe. Players must not only defend their settlement against looters but also guide it through droughts, radioactive rain and sandstorms. At the same time, they have to secure essentials such as water, food, protective clothing and education, creating plenty of survival pressure.

According to German gaming magazine PC Games, Endzone offers solid city-building strategy combined with a demanding survival struggle. The reviewers also praised its atmospheric post-apocalyptic visuals. However, the research tree is relatively narrow, the balancing is not always ideal and the game offers very little in the way of story elements. Overall, PC Games awarded it 7 out of 10 points. On Steam, around 76% of roughly 10,000 user reviews are positive. On Metacritic, Endzone has a Metascore of 72 and a User Score of 6.9. One plus: the city-builder is also rated “Playable” on the Steam Deck.
