Deal | Strategy or RPG? This game offers both and costs less than $2 on Steam

Tower of Time is not a casual RPG. Instead, it is aimed at players who enjoy digging deep into complex combat systems and rich fantasy worlds. What makes the game stand out is its blend of classic RPG elements inspired by Baldur’s Gate and real-time tactical combat reminiscent of SpellForce. Normally priced at around $25, the game is currently available for just $1.74 thanks to a massive 93% discount in the Steam Summer Sale. According to SteamDB, this matches its lowest recorded price, although it has reached that level several times before.
The story unfolds on the continent of Artara, a fantasy world whose once-great civilization collapsed after a catastrophic clash between magic and technology. At the center of the adventure stands the mysterious Tower of Time, which holds the secrets of that lost civilization. Instead of climbing upward, however, players descend ever deeper into the tower to uncover the truth behind its downfall.

In terms of gameplay, Tower of Time combines classic party-based RPG mechanics with real-time combat that can be slowed down or paused at any moment using the game’s “Arrow Time” mechanic. According to German gamig magazine PC Games, this gives battles a strong strategic layer. Players who position their party wisely, combine abilities effectively and counter enemies at the right moment are rewarded. The game also features seven distinct character classes, an extensive loot and equipment system and more than 50 hours of gameplay, according to Steam. As an added bonus, Tower of Time is fully Steam Deck Verified.
PC Games awarded Tower of Time 8 out of 10 points, praising its tactical combat system, unusual fantasy story and atmospheric presentation. On the downside, voiced dialogue is relatively rare, so players should expect plenty of reading. The review also criticized the visuals, which already looked somewhat dated when the game launched in 2018. On Steam, the RPG has around 2,600 user reviews, 82% of which are positive. On Metacritic, it holds a Metascore of 77 and a User Score of 7.8.
