Blizzard deployed an Overwatch 2 client update on June 30, introducing a "Community Crafted" mode featuring heavy reworks to D.Va, Junkrat, and Sigma.

Blizzard Entertainment released a new patch for Overwatch 2, bringing in the experimental "Community Crafted" gameplay mode. This patch applies balance profiles designed by community creators, changing character abilities across tank, damage, and support roles. The update automatically invalidates all existing competitive match replay codes due to the engine version change, a standard outcome for gameplay adjustments of this scale.

Defense Matrix adjustments and new tank mobility vectors

Tank characters receive mechanical changes that alter front-line engagements. D.Va converts every 100 damage absorbed by her Defense Matrix into 10 points of additional damage for her Self Destruct ultimate. Doomfist shifts utility as his Power Block empowers his next ability activation, rather than limiting the combat bonus to Rocket Punch.

Winston gains a double jump mechanic: players can trigger a second Jump Pack leap within one second of the first, though the secondary jump operates at 50% physical effectiveness. Sigma discards the vertical lift mechanic on Gravitic Flux. His ultimate slams enemy units directly into the ground, pinning them in place for three seconds while inflicting 25 damage per second.

Weapon velocity spikes and alternative projectile tracking for damage heroes

The damage roster tracking dynamics shift due to aggressive projectile velocity adjustments. Junkrat's Frag Launcher projectile speed increases from 30 meters per second to 112.5 meters per second. To offset this speed spike, his impact damage falls from 45 to 30, explosion damage drops from 80 to 50, and grenades explode instantly upon hitting any surface or player model.

Junker Queen's Carnage ability shifts to a ranged option, allowing players to throw the axe to land critical hits and apply a bleed effect. Mei loses the standard frost slow on her primary fire, replaced by a chargeable secondary fire icicle. Holding the input scales up both base damage and a movement reduction effect that lasts for up to 1.5 seconds. Finally, Tracer's Pulse Bomb mechanics change to allow opponents to detach a stuck explosive by shooting it, with the bomb detaching after taking 150 damage. The update is live on all retail networks.
