GameSir's Pocket Taco mobile controller gets a color refresh

GameSir launched the Pocket Taco at the beginning of the year as a controller designed for smartphones. However, unlike its other mobile controllers such as the GameSir G8 Plus MFi (available on Amazon for $79.99), which requires the phone to be inserted horizontally, the Pocket Taco is used in vertical mode, thus turning your mobile phone into a vertical handheld.
The Pocket Taco is available to buy in a retro gray color, although GameSir released a limited edition color called Atomic Purple, which was exclusive to Kickstarter. Now, GameSir has begun selling the controller in a new color called Voltage Purple.
The new color is translucent, just like some retro handhelds and consoles, and has mostly black buttons, save for the Start and Select buttons. The limited edition Atomic Purple, also has a translucent shell, but all of its buttons are purple.
The new color is available to buy on GameSir's website or on Amazon for $34.99. On the other hand, the original retro color is on sale on GameSir's website for $29.99. Regardless of the color you choose, you get the same features.
The GameSir Pocket Taco connects via Bluetooth and has a 600mAh battery that can provide hours of gaming on a single charge. It features cushioned membrane D-pad and ABXY buttons, in-line triggers and bumpers, and silicone pads to protect your phone.
It also has a keyboard mode, button remapping via the GameSir app, and automatically comes on when open and powers off when closed. There's also an opening at the bottom for a charging cable, so you can charge your phone while gaming. GameSir ships it with a travel case, a charging cable, and a lanyard.
While GameSir has announced a new color for its controller, 8BitDo is yet to release its own version which is called the FlipPad. Announced at CES 2026, the USB-C controller is expected to be released this summer.
