This modular arcade controller can switch from lever to leverless

JunkFood Custom Arcades, a US-based company known for making arcade controllers, has announced a new controller called the Slider. The arcade controller has a modular design that allows owners to swap out parts and modify layouts without purchasing a new controller.
While there's no shortage of arcade controllers on the market, and with new ones such as the PlayStation FlexStrike on the way, the Slider stands out from rivals with its modular design. According to the manufacturer, the controller's layouts and capabilities can be changed without purchasing a whole new controller. This means owners can switch from a lever fight stick layout like that of the 8BitDo Arcade Stick, to a leverless one like the 8BitDo Arcade Controller (curr. available on Amazon for $70.28).
Buyers have the option to use an RP20240-based board and their existing passthrough dongles, or they can purchase a Brook add-on for fully-integrated system compatibility. In addition, the Slider also has a separate USB port PCB which makes swapping easy. This means there's no need to replace the entire board if it gets damaged.
JunkFood Custom Arcades has also revealed that the Slider's USB-C port is made from industrial strength stainless steel which it says is more expensive than those used by rivals. The USB-C port is reported to have a lifetime warranty with no questions asked. JunkFood Custom Arcades also revealed that it is working on additional layouts, colors, and upgrades. It is also partnering with Brook to bring support for magnetic switches and wireless connectivity.
The Sider modular controller will be available to pre-order starting on Friday, June 26 for $129. When it launches, its price will jump to $149. The controller will also be showcased at the EVO tournament on June 26 for those who want to give it a try.
