Alienware's 39-inch 5K2K RGB striped OLED monitor gets wider international release with vastly different pricing

Dell has started selling the Alienware AW3926QW across several Asian markets. Interestingly, the 39-inch 5K2K RGB striped OLED monitor arrives with different price points in the region, with some paying close to the rumored price in the US and some significantly more.

To put that in perspective, buyers in Taiwan will have to fork out NTD 74,999 (~$2,351) for the AW3926QW, while the same monitor retails for CNY 12,999 (~$1,914) in mainland China and HK$13,998 (~$1,785) in Hong Kong. By contrast, Dell has priced the AW3926QW at 191,980 yen (~$1,186, including tax) in Japan and 1,897,500 won (~$1,222, including VAT) in Korea, putting both markets much closer to the monitor's reported expected MSRP of $1,099 before taxes.

Following our launch coverage, the AW3926QW is built around a 39-inch 4th Gen Primary RGB Tandem OLED panel from LG Display. It has the same 5120 x 2160 "5K2K" resolution as the LG 39GX950B-B, but the Alienware model uses a pure RGB subpixel layout that's said to deliver better text clarity with no fringing issues.

Dell has also opted for a glossy screen finish instead of the matte coating found on LG's monitor. Other highlights include a native 165Hz refresh rate with a 330Hz dual mode at a 2560 x 1080 resolution, plus up to 330 nits of full-screen brightness and 1,300 nits peak brightness in HDR.

The Dell Alienware AW3926QW is now available to order in select parts in Asia, but there is still no exact availability date for North America and Europe. For comparison, LG's 39GX950B-B is available to buy in the US for $1,799.99.
