Lenovo announces new small-sized Legion gaming tablet with 5G connectivity

Lenovo launched the latest Legion Y700 as one of the first gaming-focused tablets with the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5. One of the key highlights of the tab is that it comes with an 8.8-inch screen, making it quite compact, but the company has plans for something even smaller.
A new Legion gaming tablet made a surprise appearance at the Shenzhen Nuclear Fusion Gaming Carnival event, and now, Lenovo has officially announced it. It will be offered as a different variant of the Y700 tab, and the company has confirmed that it will be launching in China in August, 2026.
The company has further confirmed support for 5G connectivity, which will be one of the highlights of the tablet. With this announcement, Lenovo has given a glimpse of what the front of the tab will look like. The promotional render shows that the display will have a punch-hole cutout, but the bezels don't look thinner than those on the regular Legion Tab Gen 5.
While the company didn't share anything else, the gaming tablet is expected to sport an OLED display. For reference, the latest Legion Y700, which launched internationally as the Tab Gen 5, has an IPS panel. This screen upgrade on the upcoming model could make it stand as a better competitor to the soon-to-launch RedMagic Astra 2.
It's also unclear whether the small Legion tablet will be powered by the same SoC that powers the larger Gen 5 tab, which is the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5. There's a possibility of it packing a Dimensity chipset instead. More details about the device are expected to emerge soon.
