The OPPO K9 Pro is a new mid-range smartphone with novel promotional offers
OPPO has finally introduced the K9 Pro in full today. It is the OEM's first device to ditch a camera hump that sticks out of one corner for a singular glass panel that stretches all the way across the back of the device. It may not house a secondary display, but does at least contain triple 64+8+2MP rear shooters.
The glass on the other side covers a display with a 120Hz refresh rate, as well as a 180Hz touch sampling rate. The K9 Pro also supports HDR10 and 100% of the DCI-P120 color gamut. The panel in question is 6.4 inches in diagonal length and AMOLED in nature, meaning it is of increasingly common OPPO stock in this case.
Then again, the K9 Pro differentiates in another important respect. It seems earlier leaks did not contain a typo after all: the phone is the first from its maker with 60W charging for its 4,500mAh battery. It was also referred to as "Super Flash Charging" rather than something from OPPO's in-house VOOC technology.
This atypical battery set-up will keep a Dimensity 1200 SoC on in the K9 Pro. OPPO has announced that it will start at 2199 (yuan ~US$340) for a SKU with 8GB of RAM and 128GB version of internal storage, or 2699 yuan (~$417) for the only other 12/256GB option. However, they will come with 200 yuan ($26) discounts for 'early bird' customers for a short while after its September 30, 2021 release.
On this occasion, the K9 Pro will have yet another way to stand out from the crowd. Its special-edition gift boxes come in 2 flavors, one of which is co-branded with the NetEase Ace Racing group. It contains a corresponding miniature replica car and an 18W OPPO power bank along with the smartphone in its normal packaging.
The second gift box has a much less predictable theme, as it is presented in conjunction with the machinery concern SANY. Accordingly, the buyer is met with an adorable tiny model digger as well as their K9 Pro on opening this box. Either option can be reserved on Tmall at present.
Finally, the OEM has confirmed earlier hints of a TV to go with this phone. The new variant is (surprise, surprise) of the new K9 series, and as such comes with the best of its specs, a 4K resolution, HDR10+ support, MEMC and HDMI 2.1 ports included. It is now also the largest of its series at 75 inches; however, pricing for this new flagship unit has yet to become apparent.
