OPPO is an OEM that normally only does mobile devices in smartphone form. Nevertheless, it has been connected to a foray into a new market in 2021. Then again, its rumored tablet has yet to emerge, even in creator-generated render form, thus far.
This, according to Sina.cn, is because OPPO is not nearly at the necessary stage of development with its tablet as yet. In fact, the device, while definitely still on the cards, is now not slated to launch until the first half of 2022. The company has reportedly chosen to focus on its recent absorption of OnePlus instead.
Nevertheless, the knowledgeable leaker Digital Chat Station asserts that the OEM is preparing for it on the software front at least, with ColorOS for Tablets. This allegedly nascent UI apparently involves desktop-style widgets, close integration with first-party phones and wearables and a dock of some kind (which is all oddly familiar somehow).
Then again, one might wonder why a company linked to a leap into the world of foldable and even rollable phones soon, might bother with a tablet as well. The company's vice-president, Liu Bo, has reportedly affirmed the OEM's trajectory into this emerging arena.
On the other hand, a launch for either form-factor with OPPO branding by the end of 2021 is also looking less than likely at this point.
