OPPO announces its Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 flagship as its first-gen foldable phone is allegedly approved for sale in China
The leaks surrounding OPPO's alleged inaugural foldable smartphone have been wildly contradictory on the subject of the device's launch date recently. The newest tip on this subject indicates that this event might take place sooner rather than later after all, as the OEM may have finally registered the phone in question with an important domestic authority.
This new report comes courtesy of the leaker Whylab, who has spotted a new mobile device from OPPO on the certification database of the Chinese Ministry for Industry and IT (MIIT). The leaker intimates that it is the long-awaited first-gen flexible-display phone from the brand; on the other hand, its new documentation's contents confirms its model number (PEUM00), that it has 5G, runs Android, and no more.
In the meantime, the same OEM has joined the growing list of companies rushing to release their cutting-edge flagship smartphones based on the brand-new Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 chipset. This putative "Find X4 Pro" and the rumored foldable phone are unlikely to be one and the same, as the latter has often been touted as rocking the 8 Gen 1's predecessor, the 888, instead.
Then again, with a projected first-quarter release window, it is now just possible that both high-end smartphones might debut on the same stage in 2022.
