Motorola has confirmed that it does indeed have a phone powered by the new, flagship-grade Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 processor, and has now also revealed its final product name. The OEM has specified launch and release dates for the smartphone that will, as it asserts, preempt those of Xiaomi with its 12 series.

Motorola has been linked to a smartphone powered by the latest and greatest Qualcomm chipset, now officially introduced as the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1. Similarly, the Lenovo-owned mobile brand has now cleared up some protracted ambiguity by announcing that the flagship device in question is the Edge X30.

This premium Android phone also now has a launch date, the choice of which might have been driven by Motorola's reaction to Xiaomi's recent assertion that it would be the first OEM to have an 8 Gen 1-powered phone.

An already outspoken representative of the OEM in China, Chen Jin, has gotten rather vociferous on the subject in a new Weibo post ("First is the real first; the first to sell is the real first - it’s the real first when it’s in stock!"). To this end, the Edge X30 will launch alongside the Edge S30 on December 9, 2021, for a release to the market 6 days later.

Accordingly, this schedule would indeed beat Xiaomi's rumored December 16 slot for the launch of the 12 series. In the meantime, Motorola offers a 'production-run' video highlighting the 8 Gen 1's incorporation into the X30.
