A supposed Xiaomi 12 render is circulating on Twitter and Weibo. While some people are sure that it is Xiaomi's next flagship smartphone, we have other ideas. As the photo below shows, the render bears are striking resemblance with the Xiaomi CIVI, a smartphone the company launched in September.
Based on the comparison below, someone has photoshopped the Xiaomi 12's expected camera housing onto a Xiaomi CIVI marketing asset. However, @yabhishekhd has also published an apparent hands-on photo of the Xiaomi 12's back panel. Although the photo has not been verified, it matches the arrangement mentioned last month by Digital Chat Station.
Incidentally, the leaker claims that Xiaomi will apply identical AG glass coatings over the camera housing as the back panel itself. Supposedly, Xiaomi will do so to blend the camera housing into the back panel, possibly akin to Samsung's approach with the Galaxy S21 series and the upcoming Galaxy S22 series.
Xiaomi is tipped to reveal the Xiaomi 12 this month in China. The smartphone is thought to feature a 50 MP primary camera, along with Qualcomm's new Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 SoC.
