Last month, Lenovo unveiled the Moto Edge X30, its first smartphone with the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1. The device arrives alongside the Moto Edge S30, the Chinese version of the Moto G200. Motorola has not set a global launch date for the Moto Edge X30, but the device was expected to arrive outside China as the Edge 30 Ultra.
A certification published by the NBTC in Taiwan suggests that Motorola has opted for a different name, though. As the screenshot below shows, Lenovo has registered the XT2201-1 as the Motorola Edge 30 Pro, with XT2201 being the Moto Edge X30's model number. Arguably, the name 'Edge 30 Pro' makes more sense than 'Edge 30 Ultra', given the Edge 20 Pro's existence.
However, it is worth bearing in mind that Motorola launched two Moto Edge X30 models last year, a standard and a Special Edition. While the pair shared most hardware, Motorola distinguished them by including an under-display camera in the Special Edition.
Potentially then, the Edge 30 Ultra could be the global version of the Moto Edge X30 Special Edition. Either way, the standard edition should launch within the next few months as the Edge 30 Pro. For reference, Motorola revealed the Edge 20 Pro in July 2021.
