Moto Edge S30 launched in China with impressive specifications and a sub-US$500 price tag
We've heard Motorola talk extensively about the Moto Edge X30 over the past few days. It, however, spoke little of its younger sibling, the Moto Edge S30, which made a Geekbench appearance not too long ago. Motorola has now unveiled the Moto Edge S30 in China alongside its Snapdragon 8 Gen-powered sibling.
The Motorola Moto Edge S30 ships with a 6.8-inch FHD+ (1,080 x2,460) IPS LCD panel with a refresh rate of 144Hz, which is also HDR10 certified. The phone's 16MP selfie camera sits at a hole-punch cutout located at the centre of the top edge.
Moving on to the Moto Edge S30's rear-mounted camera sensors, we get a 108MP wide-angle lens combined with a 13MP ultra-wide-angle lens and a 2MP depth sensor. The smartphone measures 8.89mm in thickness, weighs 202 grams and is IP52 water and dust resistant.
As foretold earlier, the Moto Edge S30 uses a Qualcomm Snapdragon 888+ SoC coupled with up to 8GB RAM and 256GB of internal storage. It draws power from a 5,000mAh battery that supports 33W fast charging. Wireless connectivity options include Bluetooth 5.2, 5G, and 802.11 b/g/n/ac Wi-Fi. A side-mounted fingerprint sensor handles biometric authentication.
For all the high-end hardware the Moto Edge S30 packs, its price is relatively affordable. The base variant with 6GB of RAM and 128GB of storage will set you back by RMB 1,999 (US$313), while the tricked out version with 8GB RAM and 256GB storage will set you back by RMB 2599 (US$407). These prices, however, only apply to the Chinese market, and the phone could cost a tad more internationally.
