Motorola may have announced the Edge 20 and Edge 20 Pro last summer, but it already has at least one replacement planned. As the embedded tweet below shows, Motorola will announce a new Edge-branded product on February 24. While the teaser is light on details, it is clear that Motorola will use the event to showcase a smartphone.
Incidentally, the cut-out in the teaser image matches the shape of leaked Edge 30 Pro renders. Previously thought of as the Edge 30 Ultra, the Edge 30 Pro launched as the Edge X30 in China. Available since December, the Edge X30 has a Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 SoC, a 144 Hz OLED display and dual 50 MP cameras. Additionally, the device has a 5,000 mAh battery that it can recharge at 68 W.
Based on various leaks, the Edge 30 Pro will launch globally without the Edge X30's side-mounted fingerprint scanner. Instead, Motorola will equip the Edge 30 Pro with an in-display fingerprint scanner, plus a hole-punch front-facing camera. Unfortunately, it is unclear if Motorola will release the Edge X30 Special Edition globally, which has an under-panel camera.
