Motorola has now officially launched its first book-style foldable. The Motorola Razr Fold arrives as a direct rival to devices like the Oppo Find N5 and Galaxy Z Fold7, and comes well-equipped as is befitting its hefty price tag.

While Motorola was an early entrant into the foldable market going back to the first-gen Moto Razr in 2020, the company has since kept its intentions restricted to the clamshell-style form factor. Until now, that is, with the new Moto Razr Fold being the company's first attempt at a book-style foldable.

The new Moto Razr Fold was first revealed at the start of the year but has now officially made its debut. The foldable phone launches as an alternative to a device like the Galaxy Z Fold7. The Razr Fold sports an 8.1-inch display when unfolded and a 6.6-inch cover display. That cover display is protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 3, the first ever smartphone to offer that.

It's not the thinnest foldable by 2026 standards, however. It's 4.6mm thin when unfolded and 9.9mm when folded—thicker than devices like the aforementioned Galaxy Z Fold7 and the Oppo Find N5. That said, its 6,000 mAh battery is larger than the 4,400 mAh and 5,600 mAh units on those respective foldables.

Camera-wise, the Razr Fold is properly equipped. It features a 50 MP 1/1.28-inch main camera, a 50 MP 3x zoom periscope camera, a 50 MP ultra-wide snapper, and a 20 MP selfie shooter. Under the hood is Qualcomm's Snapdragon 8 Gen 5—not to be confused with the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 on most flagship phones this year. The Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 is a slightly less impressive chipset and performs right on par with last year's Snapdragon 8 Elite

Other details of the Moto Razr Fold include 16 GB of RAM and up to 1 TB of storage, 80 W wired charging, 50 W wireless charging, Moto Pen Ultra support, and up to seven years of promised Android upgrades and security updates. The foldable will be available in three colorways: Pantone Blackened Blue, Pantone Lily White, and the upcoming FIFA World Cup 26™ Collection. It will be available in most markets around the world and will ship with the Moto Pen Ultra included and a €1,999 MSRP. Pre-orders have already begun.
