Sonos' first speaker of 2026 is for those who want a smaller Move 2

Sonos might be gearing up to launch its first product of 2026, as a new speaker has been spotted online along with a release date scheduled for later this month.
The new product will launch as the Sonos Play according to a Best Buy Canada listing that was spotted by a Redditor, youthdancing. According to screenshots of the listing posted on Reddit, the Sonos Play looks like a smaller version of the Sonos Move 2, but is bigger than the Roam 2. The listing shows the speaker will be available in black and white color options, and will have a carry strap, unlike the Move 2 which has a recess for carrying it.
The product listing says that the Sonos Play is a waterproof Bluetooth wireless speaker, and while that isn't a first for a Sonos speaker, the spec sheet says it has an IP67 dust and water resistance rating. For comparison, the Move 2 (available on Amazon for $499) has an IP56 rating.
Other features of the upcoming Sonos Play include Wi-Fi and Bluetooth connectivity, support for Apple AirPlay 2, voice control, support for Amazon Alexa, support for Spotify, and wireless charging. It is also reported to have a battery life of up to 24 hours.
The Sonos Play has a price tag of CA$399 (~$293/€250/£218). Stated to be released on March 31 with backorders shipped by March 23, it can be presumed that the launch of the Sonos Play is just a few weeks away.
