Bowers & Wilkins 707 Prestige Edition speaker sports improved sound and glossy enclosure

Audio enthusiasts who are looking for an exclusive Bowers & Wilkins speaker with a glossy finish had to opt for the expensive 705 Signature Edition thus far. Now the manufacturer is refreshing the smaller and less expensive 707 S3 by introducing a so-called Prestige Edition. This model is offered only in the color "Santos Gloss", the same color that’s used for the 805 D3 Prestige Edition.
The reddish wood tone is finished with a total of twelve coats of paint. On the technical side, there are only a few upgrades that are already known from the Bowers & Wilkins 705 Signature Edition. For instance, the front grille of the tweeter and the speaker terminals on the back have been revised, which is intended to deliver more detailed audio with a wider soundstage. Since the drivers and crossovers are unchanged, any differences in sound are probably marginal.
The Bowers & Wilkins 707 Prestige Edition, like the 707 S3, features a 25mm carbon tweeter and a 130mm Continuum Cone bass/mid-range driver. Each speaker weighs about 13.2 lb and measures 11.8 x 9.7 x 6.5 inches. Bowers & Wilkins further lists a frequency range of 45Hz to 33kHz, an impedance of 8 ohms, and a sensitivity of 84dB. The manufacturer recommends pairing the speakers with an amplifier rated at 30 to 100 watts per channel.
