Earlier today, new details about Sony's long-awaited WH-1000XM6 headphones emerged online. Now, OnLeaks has partnered with XpertPick to deliver high-resolution renders relating to one of Sony's other hotly anticipated consumer releases for 2025.
At first glance, hardly anything has changed between the Xperia 1 VI (curr. $994.99 on Amazon) and the Xperia 1 VII. To that end, the latter's reported dimensions make it 0.1 mm shorter and about 0.5 mm wider than the Xperia 1 VI. Likewise, the Xperia 1 VII is said to be 0.3 mm thicker than last year's model at 8.5 mm, excluding its camera housing.
OnLeaks and XpertPick add that the housing protrudes roughly 2.5 mm from the device's back panel, a change that recent third-party case leaks support. Elsewhere, a top-mounted 3.5 mm headphone jack returns, as does a dedicated camera shutter button and a power button with a capacitive fingerprint scanner. The Xperia 1 VII also appears to carry over Sony's card tray, which does not require a tool to access.
On top of that, the Xperia 1 VII retains wide bottom and top bezels for front-facing stereo speakers. Reportedly, this year's Xperia 1 will launch next month from $1,399 in the US. Although there are suggestions that a 70-200 mm periscope telephoto camera will be joining the obligatory upgrade to a Snapdragon 8 Elite, it remains to be seen whether other camera sensors will be joining these upgrades.
